It used a Cadillac chassis and running gear with body built in Italy by coachbuilder Pininfarina. It was expensive to produce with the complete bodies flown to Detroit for final assembly. Over 21,000 were built during its seven-year production run. By midyear, prices were dropped to $57,813 for the hardtop/convertible and $51,500 for the convertible, which included a $650 Gas Guzzler Tax along with $550 destination charge. The fully integrated cellular telephone, which was equipped from the factory on just 36 cars this year, was available for an additional $1,195. Allanté's bumper-to-bumper new car warranty, seven years and 100,000 mi (160,000 km), was three years longer than other Cadillacs, and an additional 50,000 mi (80,000 km) of coverage. Allanté owners also received a special toll-free number to call for service or concerns. Headlamp washers and dual 10-way Recaro seating remained standard. A driver's side airbag was added to the leather-wrapped steering wheel, eliminating the telescoping steering wheel ? which retained its tilt feature. The analog instrument cluster ? introduced the previous year ? was standard on the convertible (available at no extra cost on the hardtop/convertible), with a total of 358 cars equipped with the analog cluster. The power mirror control moved from the right of the steering column on the instrument panel to a new location on the upper end of the driver's door armrest, while the power seat switches (previously mounted on the face of the seat base) were relocated to the lower side trim of the seat base facing the door panels. The 3-channel garage door opener base mounted on the header panel above the windshield was eliminated when a new sun visor design was introduced this year. Traction control was added ? the first front-wheel drive automobile with a V8 to be equipped as such. The system was designed to cut fuel to up to four cylinders to reduce power and optimize traction. The electronically controlled shock absorbers were retuned to remain in "soft" mode for up to 40 mph (64 km/h). Previously, they entered "normal" mode after just 25 mph (40 km/h). A revised audio system allowed a CD player to be added as standard equipment, along with the cassette player. Of the 2,523 built for 1990, only five were exported ? four to Canada and one to Germany. Allanté was available in eight colors this year, the most popular was Euro Red, found on 1,012 cars, while the least chosen was Gray Metallic, with only 28 made. Interior color choices (and production figures) were Charcoal Gray (1,343), Natural Beige (767), and Maroon (413). I have too many cars in the coral and need to part with a few. Although I love this car I am putting her up with a low low reserve and the new owner will be more then a little impressed. call me for any more questions 614four1987nine4Markbefore 10pm eastern time please. This car is sold as=is with no warranty expressed or implied. balance before the 7th business day. Thanks and good luck. 888-227-0914 [email protected] 1993 Cadillac Allante Roadster Stock 1159 VIN 1G6VS339XPU125735 Miles 96,838 Engine Size 4.6 Liter DOHC 32 Valve V8 Transmission Type 4 Speed Automatic Drivetrain FWD Exterior Color Red Interior Color Black Description 1993 Cadillac Allante Roadster The Cadillac Allant is a two-door, two-seater luxury roadster produced by Cadillac from 1987 until 1993. It used a Cadillac chassis and running gear with a body built in Italy by coach builder Pininfarina. It was expensive to produce with the complete bodies flown to Detroit for final assembly. Over 21,000 were built during its seven-year production run. Offering for consignment the last year of production of this model Cadillac, which was available only in convertible form. A stout V8 is crammed in under the hood, and in 1993 was subjected to the gas guzzler tax, but hey, performance was king with this car. Exterior A nice coating of Pearl Red covers the exterior of this steel paneled car. Three inches front fascia spoiler enhances high-speed aerodynamics while new, one-piece side window glass improved weather sealing and acoustics. A long front hood which hides the Northstar V8 shows in good condition. Door gaps are within good tolerances, and steel panels are straight and true. A headlight washer system is noted, as well as a pristine showroom condition trunk. Black molded vinyl surrounds the bottom of this car, and shows slight fading, as do the fold away rear-view mirrors. 16-inch cast aluminum wheels are seen all around. The canvas convertible top is in good condition and operates smoothly. Interior Nuance leather-trimmed bucket seats orthopedically designed to provide optimal support and comfort are seen when opening the door. The seats have power eight-way metaphoric adjustments and a new four-way power lumbar control. These buckets are showing a lot of wear with areas of tape used to cover cracks in the leather. They flank a center console equipped with transmission shift selector that is slightly offset 20 degrees toward the driver for ease of shifting. Leather stitching on the door panels is slightly frayed and show areas for wear not unlike the seats. Power window, seat adjustment, and power locks are a few of the buttons seen in the door armrest area. The dash is all electronic readouts and a "tower" of you will, is stirring to the right of the dash and houses the climate controls, radio and CD player, and trip computer which also displays driver information. Drivetrain This debut also introduced the world to the Northstar V-8 engine, which now powered the Allante, replacing the 4.5-liter V-8 formerly used. As with all other Northstar applications, the 4.6-liter V-8 was paired with the 4T80-E electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission. The Northstar engine featured highly efficient compound-geometry valve/port designs and "quiet coil" Direct Ignition System designed to operate at high rpm levels without loss of spark synchronization. The engine's dual stream injector Fluid Induction System was another innovation. This system was isolated from under hood heat sources and cooled the fuel during operation, which enhanced performance. A paired 4T80-E transmission featured a controlled-flow, dual lubricating system that provides proper lubrication under all operating conditions. Free-wheeling clutches ensure consistent shifting quality. Undercarriage Presenting very clean and rust free, obviously pampered and garaged, the undercarriage is impressive. Structurally sound and featuring a vastly upgraded road sensing suspension, speed sensitive steering and the new-generation Bosch ASRIIU traction control system. This convertible also benefits from receiving the short/long arm (SLA) rear suspension that improved steering responsiveness. A luxurious powerful toy could best describe this small but near muscle horsepower Caddy. A smooth runner, quick starter, and well maintained mechanically automobile, with hints of wear on the interior. Drop the top and go for a winding cruise in the middle of nowhere and you will quickly be lost in your own satisfaction.
